I traveled for ranch.
The waitress told me it was homemade and after some experiences already, I was hopeful but weary. My hesitancy continued when I smelled it because my nose wasn’t convinced. But somewhere between the smell and the first taste, something shifted… a little cloud parted for rays of sunshine.
The sour is there, a little more than I like, but the salt ratio saves it somehow. There’s something going on in that ranch that gives it dimension without tasting like a salt lick though, in a homemade kind of way. I can’t fully separate it from the fries I ordered specifically to test it, but either way, it worked. Who doesn’t pair french fries with their breakfast?
All that to be said, I would order a salad here (which honestly, is the true test).
The food aside: I got the souffle, which was solid on flavor. If you grew up on Panera’s flaky-crusted version, temper your expectations on the crust situation. Still good. Just different. Dare I assume this is a more authentic version of a souffle? I’d say that is a safe bet.
