What We Ordered

The Review

The ranch came out looking promising. There were visible herb flecks in it, which usually signals that something interesting is about to happen. I was ready for it. It didn’t quite deliver on that promise.

There was a faint sour smell, but nothing like the full store-bought assault I’ve experienced elsewhere. So points for that. The taste was fine, inoffensive, and did its job alongside the food. It just needed more oomph (and maybe some salt?). With that many flecks in it, I expected the flavor to have some presence behind it.

The herb situation raised my expectations and then quietly didn’t meet them. That’s maybe the most frustrating kind of ranch. Not bad enough to be memorable, not good enough to get excited about.

The rest of the meal, though? Solid. The wings were good. The pimento dip was pretty delicious. And the side salad was fresh, which I appreciated, though I have some notes on the bowl situation. It was comically small. Like, aggressively small. The salad was barely contained and exploded the moment I went in for a bite.
